...to the website of Andy Naylor, a researcher in the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre at Uppsala University!
Andy was awarded master and doctorate degrees from the University of Southampton (UK) and held Research Fellow positions at the Universities of Oxford and St Andrews (UK). He then moved to Uppsala University (Sweden) in 2017 as a Researcher. Andy was appointed as Docent at Uppsala University in April 2022.
Andy's main interests are in developing and employing lab- and synchrotron-based techniques for characterising the interfaces within rechargeable batteries. Such techniques can be used to determine degradation or charge compensation mechanisms of the battery materials. The decomposition of electrolytes, for example at electrode interfaces, or the study of next-generation materials such as Li-rich cathodes or silicon anodes, are of particular interest.
